Kwabena Agyepong launches 2026 NPP flagbearer bid with call for leadership of integrity
The NPP, earlier today, July 29, 2025, officially opened nominations for the race to select a candidate to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially declared his intention to contest the party’s flagbearership in 2026.
The NPP, earlier today, July 29, 2025, officially opened nominations for the race to select a candidate to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
Ing. Agyepong, who was one of ten contenders at the NPP’s Super Delegates Conference in 2023 ahead of the 2024 elections, is taking a second shot at the flagbearership under the mantra “Leadership with Integrity.”
Speaking at the declaration event and official opening of his campaign office in Accra, Ing. Agyepong stated that he is the best option for the NPP going into the 2028 elections.
“I, Engineer Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, present myself to you as the most viable candidate, offering a new dawn, a new dimension, and a new direction. Yes indeed, I come to you with a clear message.” He said.
He further recounted his years of dedication to the party and described himself as the link between the party’s founders and the new generation.
“I have good relations with every leader of this party you can think of. I’m the bridge between our founding fathers and the future of our party.”
“I’ve always been loyal to the elephant, because for me, politics is not about self, it’s about our collective welfare.” He added.
Ing. Agyepong urged delegates not to base their decision on monetary comfort and called on them to trust him to unite the party for victory.
“Delegates, let’s not weigh down this party any further with a choice that will eventually call for unending efforts of reconciliation, reparations from hate speeches, and all manner of vile deeds. With me, KAA, the NPP has a clear path to unity and victory.”
He believes that if given the opportunity to lead Ghana, he will usher the country into a new era, one in which the nation builds a fair economy that works for everyone, implements a salary regime that rewards productivity and restores faith in public service, and harnesses the full value of agriculture to create wealth and generate opportunities in education, sports, tourism, and entrepreneurship.
