The Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central, Simon Akibange Aworigo has officially launched the 2026 Independence Day Essay Competition for students in the constituency.
The launch took place during the 69th Independence Day Parade held at the COS Park in Navrongo on March 6, 2026.
Speaking at the event, Aworigo emphasized the importance of investing in human resources, noting that education remains one of the most critical pillars for national development.
“Prosperity also involves investing in people. The best resource of every country is its human resource. It is for that reason that as your Member of Parliament, I am committed to the education of our young learners.” He said.
Aworigo explained that the essay competition, which was first introduced last year, will continue to be organized annually throughout his tenure as Member of Parliament.
According to him, the competition will again feature two categories: one for Junior High School (JHS) students and another for Senior High School (SHS) students.
“I want to use today to tell the people of Navrongo and our young learners that we are launching this year’s Independence Day Essay Competition again.”
For this year’s edition, the MP disclosed that two key themes have been selected to address important issues affecting students and communities. The topic for Senior High School students will focus on indiscipline in secondary schools, while Junior High School students will write on sanitation.
Aworigo reiterated his commitment to improving education in the constituency, noting that he will continue to support efforts aimed at addressing challenges such as the shortage of furniture, inadequate teaching and learning materials, and other educational needs.
“Our young learners are the future leaders of our country and our communities. I will continue to do what I can to ensure they become the best in our country.” He stated.
