NDC managing Ghana’s economy exceptionally well – Aiden Adafula
Adafula said a comparison between the current administration and the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government shows significant economic improvement.
The Navrongo Central Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Aiden Adafula, has praised the NDC government led by President John Dramani Mahama for what he describes as exceptional management of the country’s economy.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, March 30, Adafula said a comparison between the current administration and the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government shows significant economic improvement.
“You look at the entire economic management system and realise that the government led by His Excellency John Mahama is doing exceptionally well in managing the economy,” he stated.
Adafula contrasted the current performance with what he characterised as poor economic management under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, citing high inflation rates during that period.
“During the Akufo-Addo, Bawumia administration, inflation rose to about 54 per cent, with food inflation reaching 57 per cent. When we assumed office, it was around 23 per cent, which we reduced to 11 per cent, and now to about 3.3 per cent,” he claimed.
According to him, beyond the statistics, the general living conditions of Ghanaians have improved, reflecting the gains made in the economy.
He also pointed to what he described as improved stability in the banking sector, alongside declining interest and exchange rates, as indicators of effective economic management under the current administration.
“We have worked to strengthen the banking system to make it more functional. Interest rates and exchange rates are coming down. Government alone cannot do everything; we must create an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive,” he added.
Adafula urged Ghanaians to continue supporting the government and President Mahama to implement policies and initiatives aimed at sustaining economic growth and development.
