New ICOUR Managing Director outlines vision to reunite, rebrand and rebuild

Anarigide said his leadership will focus on healing divisions within the company, restoring its public image, and strengthening its operational capacity.

The Managing Director of the Irrigation Company of the Upper East Region (ICOUR), Dominic Anarigide, has pledged to lead a new era of transformation at the company, anchored on what he termed the “three Rs”, Reuniting, Rebranding, and Rebuilding ICOUR.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Tuesday July 15, Anarigide said his leadership will focus on healing divisions within the company, restoring its public image, and strengthening its operational capacity.

“My vision can be summarized into three Rs: ICOUR needs to be reunited, it needs to be rebranded, and it needs to be rebuilt. That is my vision,” he stated.

Anarigide officially took over the reigns of the state-run irrigation company on July 11 during a handing-over ceremony led by the Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri.

He emphasized the need for reconciliation within the institution, noting recent controversies that had marred the company’s image, including the refusal of the former Managing Director to release certain company assets.

“When it comes to ICOUR, you know what happened where the former Managing Director held on to some of the company’s assets, causing confusion. That brought a lot of negativity to the company and that wasn’t good enough. Everybody in the Upper East Region was not happy about that,” he said.

He described ICOUR as once being a “united family” and said it was now his responsibility to restore that unity, not just among staff, but with other key stakeholders such as farmers, traditional leaders, and landlords.

“There will be a deliberate agenda to mend the differences. The uniting process is not just about the staff alone but also other major stakeholders like farmers and the chiefs, and landlords.” He added.

Anarigide called on all stakeholders to support his vision and work together to bring ICOUR back to its former glory, stating that only through collective effort can the company realise its full potential.
