NPP has no reputation to protect – NDC Communicator reacts to move to expel Prof. Frimpong-Boateng

The NPP’s move follows comments made by Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, which the party says are damaging to its reputation.

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team for the Navrongo Central Constituency, Mercy Abada, has strongly criticised the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decision to initiate processes to expel former Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.

The NPP’s move follows comments made by Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, which the party says are damaging to its reputation.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Wednesday, January 14, Abada described the NPP’s justification as laughable, arguing that the party lacks the moral standing to claim reputational damage.

“It is laughable that the party is saying his comments will drag its reputation into disrepute. Does the NPP have any reputation today in Ghana? The reputation they have is one of corruption, looting, tribalism, and nepotism. What kind of reputation do they have?” She questioned.

According to her, the NPP no longer appeals to the Ghanaian public, making its reaction to Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s remarks unnecessary and misplaced.

Abada further criticised the party’s actions as an attempt to stifle free speech and suppress dissenting opinions within its ranks.

“They cannot gag him or others from expressing their views if we are truly talking about democracy. People should not be punished simply for expressing dissenting views. The basis for which they want to sack the professor is untenable.” She stated.

She warned that the decision, if carried through, would only compound the NPP’s internal challenges rather than resolve them, describing it as a wrong move that could further worsen the party’s problems.
