NYA deputy CEO vehicle involved in accident in Natugnia; one dead, three injured

Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle, which was travelling from Sirigu towards Natugnia, somersaulted multiple times after the driver allegedly lost control.

A tragic road accident in Natugnia in the Kassena-Nankana municipality has claimed the life of a young boy and left four others seriously injured.

The accident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, May 3, and involved a vehicle reportedly belonging to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA) in charge of Finance and Administration, Jacob Adongo.

Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle, which was travelling from Sirigu towards Natugnia, somersaulted multiple times after the driver allegedly lost control. One of the children onboard died on the spot, while four others sustained serious injuries.

“The vehicle was moving from Sirigu towards Natugnia, then it began to move from left to right on the road. It continued like that till it fell and began to somersault.  It was like the driver lost control of the vehicle.” A resident who begged anonymity told Mike FM.

Adongo was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident, according to witnesses at the scene.

The vehicle reportedly somersaulted multiple times.

The injured were initially evacuated by residents to the Sirigu Clinic. They were later transferred to the Upper East Regional Hospital for further medical attention.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. The Police from Sirigu, who arrived at the scene, have launched an inquiry to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.

The accident has left the Natugnia community in shock, mourning the loss and praying for the recovery of the injured.
