Nyenya Yen Calls for Collective Action Against Corruption
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show with David Adapuna on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Yen emphasized that public attitudes often pressure individuals in power to engage in corrupt activities to avoid ridicule.

Social Justice advocate Nyenya Yen has sounded the alarm on society’s role in perpetuating corruption, urging individuals and the public to take a firm stance against the practice.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show with David Adapuna on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Yen emphasized that public attitudes often pressure individuals in power to engage in corrupt activities to avoid ridicule.
Yen highlighted how society tends to mock officials who leave office without amassing wealth, pushing many into corrupt practices.
“When you have a state where, after two or three years in power, you come out with nothing, people laugh at you,”
“So, society is also part and parcel of supporting this terrible practice that affects our nation.” Yen stated.
Addressing the issue of accountability, Yen asserted that corrupt officials should not only be made to refund stolen funds but also face stricter legal consequences, including imprisonment and public exposure.
“If you just collect what has been looted, it’s not enough to deter others. It is extremely important that you retrieve what has been stolen, and offenders should also be punished in other ways, including imprisonment, with their names publicly disclosed,” he said.
Yen further advocated for the establishment of fast-track courts dedicated to handling corruption-related cases efficiently, ensuring that long-standing issues are resolved swiftly, and justice is served.
Yen’s call for action comes amid growing concerns about the normalization of corruption, especially in public offices, and the need for collective societal efforts to combat the menace.
