Pastor Joy Vitus Yarfoh urges Christians to embrace Easter as a season of compassion and purpose

Pastor Yarfoh challenged believers to shift focus from routine festivities to meaningful acts of kindness, echoing the spirit of love and sacrifice that defines the Easter story.

Pastor Joy Vitus Yarfoh, Founder of the Great Commission Exploits Ministry in Sandema, has called on Christians to go beyond traditional celebrations and embrace Easter as a season for compassion, reflection, and purposeful service.

In an interview on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday April 21, 2025, Pastor Yarfoh challenged believers to shift focus from routine festivities to meaningful acts of kindness, echoing the spirit of love and sacrifice that defines the Easter story.

“Easter should not be reduced to just church services and social outings,” He said, adding “It is a moment to reflect God’s love through acts of kindness and to support those in need.”

Sharing from personal experience, Pastor Yarfoh spoke of the impact even a small act of giving can have.

“Every Christmas we organize and reach out to some people in need. Just a bowl of rice you give to an old lady or widow, and she kneels down to take it, do you think that person will forget this?” He asked, underscoring the lasting effect of compassion.

He encouraged Christians to draw parallels between the Easter story and their own lives—drawing strength from Christ’s suffering, betrayal, and ultimate victory. For him, Easter is not just a commemoration of Christ’s resurrection but also a call to spiritual renewal.

“So the whole thing about Easter, no matter your style of celebration—which is to honor God—always make sure that somewhere within it, you are talking to God, asking Him to help you listen and align with His will,” Pastor Yarfoh advised.

His remarks come at a time when many Christian leaders are advocating for a more spiritually grounded observance of major religious holidays. According to Pastor Yarfoh, honoring Easter in a way that combines worship with service and self-examination is key to true Christian living.

The Great Commission Exploits Ministry has become known in the region for its outreach programs, especially during festive seasons, targeting widows, the elderly, and the underprivileged with food donations and spiritual support.

Pastor Yarfoh’s message is a timely reminder of the enduring power of faith expressed through love—and the responsibility of believers to carry the Easter message beyond church walls and into the heart of their communities.
