Police arrest 14 suspected narcotic drug farmers at Daliga in Nabdam
The suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led operation after police allegedly discovered large quantities of suspected Indian hemp concealed among millet and maize.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested 14 suspects for their alleged involvement in the cultivation and distribution of narcotic drugs at Daliga in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.
The suspects were arrested on Sunday, August 16, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in collaboration with the newly formed Black Cobra Team.
According to the Police, the operation followed intelligence gathered on the alleged cultivation and distribution of narcotic drugs in the area.
A search conducted during the operation reportedly led to the discovery of a large quantity of suspected narcotic drugs concealed in sacks of millet and maize.
Preliminary investigations by the Police indicate that the suspected Indian hemp was being cultivated alongside millet and maize to conceal the farms and evade detection.

The suspects are also believed to be major suppliers of narcotic drugs to several drug peddlers operating across the Upper East Region.
The Police said the suspects are currently in custody and will be put before court to face the full rigours of the law.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has assured the public of its continued efforts to clamp down on the cultivation, distribution and use of narcotic drugs in the region.
The operation was disclosed in a statement issued by Chief Inspector Abdul-Raman Sumaila of the Police Administration and Public Affairs Unit (PAU) of the Upper East Regional Police Command.
