Sit up! Your deep cracks cost Faustina Abulu the MCE position – Navrongo NPP youth tells NDC
The NPP youth wing said although the dealings of the NDC is none of their business, the interest and development of the municipality is of grave importance to them.
The Youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo central constituency of the Upper East region has said the deep cracks within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is what has caused the failed confirmation of Faustian Abulu, the President’s nominee for the area.
Faustina Abulu, the long serving NDC Navrongo central constituency Womens’ Organiser, fiailed to poll adequate votes to qualify for the position of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), a t a confirmation held on April 29.
Speaking at a press conference, the NPP youth wing led the constituency Youth Organiser, Daniel Bayivere, said although the dealings of the NDC is none of their business, the interest and development of the municipality is of grave importance to them.
This, the youth wing noted it would not sit and watch the development of the municipality stalled due to the failed leadership of the NDC.
“This unfortunate developing does not portent well for the municipal assembly and rather sends a bad signal about the municipality amidst the overwhelming confirmations across the Upper East Region and countrywide.
“We would have wish to stay away from the NDC and their internal issues and mind our own business, as the saying in Kasem “Ba noona de ba kanzwa” literally translated as their meat and their maggots, but not when same issues escalate and degenerate to levels that threaten the development, peace and good governance of the local economy.” The youth stated.
The NPP said the rejection of Faustina Abulu was embarrassing, repugnant and retrogressive, adding it was the first time such a situation was recorded in the municipality.
“As far as I know, I stand for correction though, this is the first time we are experiencing such a situation in our assembly since the establishment of the fourth republic. This is not only embarrassing but repugnant and retrogressive so to speak. isn’t it?” the party questioned.
The Youth wing called for the intervention of President Mahama and his government to immediately take steps to get the municipality a substantive MCE to ensure effective governance and the much-needed development.
“Giving the aforementioned functions of the municipal chief executive, as responsible youth and citizens we cannot sit idle and watch our municipality retrogress due to the internal wrangling and leadership failures of the NDC.”
“We hereby call on his excellency the president of the republic, John Dramani Mahama as a matter of urgency and emergency either appoint or reappointed a municipal chief executive for the kasena-Nankana municipal assembly since further delays will spell doom for smooth administration and execution of programs and projects in the assembly.”
The NPP youth warned they will continue to hold the fee of the government to fire to ensure that the municipality is given its fair share of development.
