The War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo has issued a strong warning to the public to stop tethering animals on its compound, or risk seeing them end up on the hospital menu.
In a press release dated Friday, September 19, 2025, sighted by Mike FM, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr Abraham Titigah, stated that the facility can no longer tolerate animals roaming or being tied within its premises.
According to him, goats, sheep, and other livestock contaminate the hospital grounds, spreading bacteria and viruses that threaten the health of patients and staff.
He cautioned that animals found tethered in the hospital compound will be captured and slaughtered for use in the hospital canteen.
“To protect public health, any animal found tethered in the compound of this hospital from now onwards will be captured by our security personnel,”
“If certified edible by a veterinarian, the animal will be used at the hospital’s canteen as an additional protein source for our patients.”
The hospital urged the public to fully cooperate with the directive to maintain a clean and safe environment for quality healthcare delivery.
