Upper East Regional Minister Donatus Akamugri Atanga has invited investors and development partners to seize emerging opportunities under the PEARL Framework to drive regional transformation.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has declared that the region is fully prepared to welcome investors and development partners, describing the Upper East as “open for business” and committed to building a resilient and competitive economy.

Speaking at the opening of the Prosperity through Enterprise, Agriculture, Resilience and Livelihood (PEARL) Forum in Bolgatanga, the Akamugri said the region was ready to collaborate with government agencies, the private sector, development partners and investors to unlock its economic potential.

“Our message today is simple and unequivocal: the Upper East Region is open for business. We are ready to partner, ready to innovate, ready to invest, and ready to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to build a dynamic, resilient and competitive regional economy,” Akamugri stated.

He described the three-day PEARL Forum as a strategic platform for forging partnerships, mobilising investments, exchanging ideas and making decisions that will shape the future development of the region.

The Minister urged participants to move beyond discussions and commit themselves to implementing the region’s development vision.

“We invite every participant to leave this Forum not only inspired by our vision but committed to becoming a partner in its implementation,” he said.

Akamugri outlined several flagship investment projects and strategic initiatives that will be explored during the forum. They include measures to consolidate peace and promote sustainable development across the region, the completion of the Tamne Irrigation Dam, and the rehabilitation and optimal utilisation of the Tono and Vea Irrigation Schemes.

The Minister also announced plans to establish an Agricultural Technical University at Sandema to strengthen agricultural research, innovation and skills development.

Additionally, he revealed proposals for a Drone and Satellite Remote Sensing Programme to be jointly anchored by the Bolgatanga Technical University and the University of Applied Sciences and Technology (UTAS), in collaboration with development partners.

According to him, the programme will provide real-time intelligence to support security operations, agriculture, land-use planning, environmental protection and water resource management.

The PEARL Forum brings together government officials, investors, development partners, academics, business leaders and other stakeholders to identify investment opportunities and develop strategies to accelerate economic transformation in the Upper East Region.

The 3-day forum is expected to produce strategic partnerships and investment commitments that will drive sustainable growth, create jobs and improve livelihoods across the region.
