Transparency in security services recruitments curbs flawed outcomes – Kumado

Kumadoe stressed that transparency is essential to ensuring that only qualified and capable individuals are selected.

Security Consultant and Fraud Prevention Expert, Richard Kumadoe, has called for greater transparency in the recruitment processes of Ghana’s security services, warning that a lack of openness continues to undermine the quality and professionalism of personnel enlisted.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, Kumadoe stressed that transparency is essential to ensuring that only qualified and capable individuals are selected.

“You need transparency because once the selection procedure is flawed, the outcome will be flawed for many years. If you go to the police, we have protocol police and professional police. You are not building the capacity of the national security sector, and if you continue like this, it will bite you heavily one day. You will build an army with broken legs and weak hearts.”

Kumadoe cautioned that recruitment influenced by political considerations or unofficial protocols weakens the security structure and erodes public trust. He urged authorities to uphold integrity and merit throughout the selection chain.

He also advised applicants to take the process seriously by following all guidelines and seeking assistance where necessary to avoid disqualification over preventable mistakes.

“Follow the simple instructions. If you don’t put yourself together, if you don’t ask for advice, and you fail to arrange your documents properly, you will be disqualified.” He added.

Kumadoe emphasized that strengthening recruitment transparency is key to building a competent, ethical, and dependable security force for the country.
