CKT-UTAS graduates 790 students at 5th congregation ceremony

A total of 790 students graduated, comprising 592 undergraduate students, 198 postgraduate students, and four students who completed English and French proficiency programs.

The C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS), the premier public university in Ghana’s Upper East Region, has held its 5th Congregation Ceremony for the Class of 2024.

A total of 790 students graduated, comprising 592 undergraduate students, 198 postgraduate students, and four students who completed English and French proficiency programs.

The graduation ceremony took place on Saturday, June 21, at the University’s main campus in Navrongo.

Among the graduating class were eight doctoral candidates: seven earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Applied Statistics, while one earned a PhD in Statistics.

Chairman of the University Governing Council, Professor Stephen Kendie, commended the graduates on their achievements and praised the university’s progress since attaining full university status.

“From just three faculties in 2021, we now have ten faculties with an ever-increasing student enrolment. Within five years of achieving this feat, more is coming.” Professor Kendie stated.

The school’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Albert Luguterah, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to delivering quality tertiary education through excellent teaching, learning, and research.

“Go forward and be the change makers this world and Ghana in particular so dearly needs,” he told the graduates.

Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education.

The Special Guest of Honour, Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu, lauded the University’s progress despite limited resources and pledged government support for its continued development.

“I am aware that the institution is not one of the lucky ones, yet you have made tremendous progress. We will continue to support you—into 2026, we will begin a major infrastructure development on this campus.” He said.

He also encouraged the graduates to uphold integrity as they transition into the world of work.

“Walk into the world of work with one meaningful resolve—that you will champion and protect reputation, you can only do so with a declaration that you will serve this country with integrity.” The minister urged.

The Best Graduating Student, James Mba Akulaa, who earned a perfect CGPA of 4.00, delivered the valedictory address and expressed confidence in the graduating class’s readiness to create positive change.

“We are prepared people who possess a sense of responsibility, discipline, and commitment, and are ready to make valuable contributions in our communities and beyond,” he said.

CKT-UTAS currently offers 81 academic programs across ten faculties. The university has a student population of 4,019, including 3,202 undergraduates and 607 postgraduate students.
