The Tumu College of Education in the Upper West Region has a new substantive principal following the appointment of Professor Peter Awonnatemi Agbedemnab.

He officially assumed office on Monday September 1, 2025, after a short ceremony at the college, where the acting Principal, Bukari Baba Abdulai, formally handed over administrative notes to him.

Abdulai, who has steered the affairs of the college in an acting capacity, pledged the support of management and staff for the new principal.

“Prof. Principal, I am very honoured and happy to hand over the reins of Tumu College of Education to you as the substantive Principal, having gone through the required processes. Congratulations, this is a great day in the annals of the college, and I wish you successful leadership. We are ready to support you in realising your vision.” Abdulai said

In his acceptance remarks, Prof. Agbedemnab expressed appreciation to his predecessor and past leaders for their contribution to the growth of the institution.

“I am privileged to have this opportunity to serve as Principal of this college. This is a new chapter in my life, and I want to thank you in particular for holding the fort. I also appreciate the good works of all the former Principals. They have laid a solid foundation, and together, we will build on it to take the college to the next level.” He said.

The new principal, who until his appointment headed the Department of Information Systems and Technology at the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) in Navrongo, also outlined his vision.

“My vision is to make the Tumu College of Education a center of excellence by the end of my tenure. This will not come easy, but we want to create an environment where values are instilled, and the right atmosphere is provided for both staff and students. I have developed a strategic plan anchored on four pillars: the institution, staff, students, and the community, which will be rolled out soon by the grace of God” He stated.

Prof. Agbedemnab’s appointment is expected to usher in a new phase for the Tumu College of Education, with stakeholders optimistic about the institution’s future under his leadership.
