The GhanaThink Foundation, through its Navrongo Konnect network, has organised a mentorship and career guidance forum for students of Mirigu Junior High School in the Kassena-Nankana District of the Upper East Region.
The event formed part of activities marking this year’s National Volunteer Day (NVDay), observed annually on September 21.
The 2025 edition of NVDay, themed “Volunteerism: The Heart of Community Development”, marks ten years of its celebration since its inception in 2013, driven by dedicated, youth-led volunteerism.
The school outreach, held under the Junior Camp Ghana (JCG) program, on Friday September 19, brought together professionals from diverse backgrounds who engaged the students by sharing personal educational and career experiences.

The initiative exposed the pupils to multiple career paths, equipped them with skills, and connected them to mentors who could support their future development.

Elliot Awedana Akuna, Administrator for Navrongo Konnect, described the program as a success, emphasising plans to make such engagements more regular to empower students and track their progress.
“The program has gone well, based on the feedback we got. Going forward, this is something we can do on a more regular basis to touch base with them and find out how far things have gone.” He said.

Godfred Atugyore, Head Teacher of Mirigu JHS, also commended the initiative, stressing its potential impact on the students.
“Because these are professionals from different fields guiding the students, I believe it will motivate the students to achieve their goals, you can see from their faces and reactions, they are happy for this opportunity.”

Students expressed their excitement about the session, highlighting key lessons such as balancing playtime with studies, staying focused on their aspirations, never giving up, and remaining disciplined.
