Donald Tuumyeridam’s Fedosam Foundation donates to four schools in Kassena Nankana West

The donation exercise, held on Wednesday, February 4, and Thursday, February 5, benefited Nabio Primary School, Kaweinia D/A Primary School, Kaasi Primary School, and Navio Primary School.

The Fedosam Foundation, an initiative of former National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant for the Chiana–Paga Constituency, Donald Tuumyeridam, and his family, has donated school uniforms, footwear, and boxes of chalk to four schools in the Kassena Nankana West District.

The donation exercise, held on Wednesday, February 4, and Thursday, February 5, benefited Nabio Primary School, Kaweinia D/A Primary School, Kaasi Primary School, and Navio Primary School.

Each school received not less than 25 sets of uniforms, together with pairs of footwear and socks, to be distributed to less privileged students.

Donald Tuumyeridam, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, noted that the donation was inspired by his childhood experience of attending school without uniforms.

The former Chiana–Paga NDC Communications Officer said the organization’s mission is to give back to society, stressing that the initiative is non-partisan.

“Our mission is to help society. It is not to accumulate wealth at the expense of the poor, but to share whatever God gives us.” He said.

“It is non-partisan. Others may interpret it to be political because I served as communications officer and also contested the NDC parliamentary primary, but this mission is not meant for that. We must all contribute in our own way to develop our communities.” He added.

He further noted that one’s environment should not determine one’s success in life and urged well-endowed individuals to support society.

The District Chief Executive for Kassena Nankana West, Stephen Aeke Akurugu, during a courtesy call by the Foundation before the donation exercise, praised the initiative and called on other stakeholders to support the government’s efforts to improve education.

“I am happy that something of this nature is being done. Education is a shared responsibility. As government plays its part, private individuals can also help shape education in the district.” The DCE said.

Hawa Sumialla, Headmistress of Nabio Primary School, one of the beneficiary schools, said the donation would boost the confidence of many students who often attend school in worn-out uniforms or home clothing.

Hakim Nurudeen, a representative of the Member of Parliament for the Chiana–Paga Constituency, also applauded the Foundation for the initiative and urged beneficiaries to use the items for the benefit of the students.

The Fedosam Foundation was founded by Donald Tuumyeridam and his wife, Felicia, to empower the less privileged in society, with support from family and friends. The Foundation says this donation marks the beginning of many more initiatives aimed at supporting education and improving opportunities for young people.
