Tears poured as hundreds attended funeral of Maurice Achana to bid him farewell
Maurice Achana died at the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Saturday February, 2026 after he was involved in a motorbike accident on Wednesday February 25, 2026.
Maurice Awoba Achana, a teacher and staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team in the Navrongo Central Constituency, who died in a tragic road accident was today Tuesday March 3, 2026, laid to rest at his family house in Pungu Manchoro.
His interment followed a solemn burial mass at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Pungu.
Maurice Achana passed away sadly at the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Saturday February, 2026 where he was being treated for severe injuries following a motor accident on the Pungu road.
The funeral drew family members, colleagues, students, political associates and community members who gathered to pay their last respects to a man widely described as humble, dedicated and principled in service to both church and society.

Maurice Achana until his sudden demise was an appointed member of the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly and a teacher at the Zamse Senior High Technical School, remembered for his professionalism, calm disposition and unwavering commitment to duty.
In an emotional tribute, his wife, Cynthia Adiga, described him as her strength, partner and best friend whose love and faith anchored their family.
“You were my strength, my partner, my best friend. Your patience, kindness and faith in God can never be forgotten.”
“You have fought a good fight, you have finished your course and you have kept the faith.” Overcome with grief, she further lamented. She added quoting 2 Timothy 4:7

Representatives of Zamse Senior High Technical School recounted that although he was posted to the school in 2025 after completing his tertiary education in Building Construction Technology, his short stay was impactful and memorable.
“He integrated seamlessly into our community and related with staff and students as though he had been with us for many years.”
The Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly, where Achana was a an appointed Assembly Member also paid glowing tribute, describing his passing as a significant loss to the municipality.
“He approached every assignment with seriousness and a sense of purpose, guided always by the collective interest of the municipality rather than personal considerations.” A representative of the Assembly Said
As final prayers were offered and his body committed to the earth, many reflected on a life that, though short, was marked by service, humility and integrity.
Maurice Achana is survived by his wife and one child.
