St. John Bosco’s College of Education in Navrongo has matriculated over 400 fresh students for the 2026/2027 academic year, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of the newly admitted teacher trainees.

Addressing the matriculants on Wednesday, March, 2026, the school’s Principal, Professor Clement Ayarebilla Ali described matriculation as a formal induction into the college community, reminding students that their admission comes with both privileges and responsibilities.

“Matriculation of fresh students forms part of the college’s academic calendar, and today you are officially registered with all the rights and responsibilities that come with it.” He stated.

He revealed that the college received 6,433 applications during the 2025 admission cycle but admitted just over 400 students, making the process highly competitive.

“If you combine all these numbers, those who applied to this college were 6,433. So you should count yourselves lucky to be here. It means your goal is strong and you have earned your place.” the Principal told the matriculants.

Tracing the institution’s history from its establishment in 1930, he emphasized its resilience through decades of transformation and reform.

“You will realize that this college has undergone several transformations, but we continue to remain resilient, strong and forward-marching.

We are always ready to change because we are adaptable to every situation.” He added.

Delivering a message on behalf of the Bishop of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Azure conveyed the blessings and goodwill of His Lordship Most Reverend Alfred Aganta, who was unable to attend due to official engagements.

He further urged the students to embrace the Catholic identity and moral standards of the institution, stressing that academic excellence must be matched with upright character.

“Excellence in academics must go hand in hand with moral uprightness. You should not come out at the end of your stay here as academic giants but moral dwarfs,” the Bishop cautioned.

The ceremony brought together management, academic staff, clergy, students and invited guests to formally welcome the new entrants into the Catholic-founded institution, reinforcing its commitment to holistic teacher education rooted in discipline, competence and integrity.
