Senior citizen urges youth to cultivate a culture of respect for the elderly

According to him, respect serves as a bridge between generations, creating opportunities for the elderly to impart knowledge and wisdom accumulated over the years.

A senior citizen in the Kassena Nankana Municipality, Timothy Kudamo, has called on young people to cultivate a culture of respect, particularly towards the elderly, to benefit from their wealth of experience and guidance.

According to him, respect serves as a bridge between generations, creating opportunities for the elderly to impart knowledge and wisdom accumulated over the years.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, March 23, Kudamo expressed concern over what he described as a gradual decline in respect among today’s youth.

“The youth should learn to show respect. Demonstrating respect towards the elderly reflects good upbringing and opens doors in life,” he stated.

He noted that in the past, respect and discipline were core societal values, strongly upheld and reinforced within communities, especially among the younger generation.

Kudamo further cautioned against drug and alcohol abuse, urging young people to remain focused and approach the future with hope and determination.

“Do not be in a hurry. Stay humble and listen to the elderly so you can be well-prepared to take up responsibility when the older generation is no longer around,” he advised.

He emphasized that embracing discipline, humility, and respect will not only shape the character of the youth but also position them for a more responsible and impactful future.
