Navrongo NPP wishes 2026 BECE candidates success, calls for adherence to exam rules
Navrongo NPP urges 2026 BECE candidates to stay disciplined and follow exam rules, expressing confidence in their success as over 1,700 students prepare in the constituency.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo Central Constituency has extended a goodwill message to candidates preparing to sit for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), encouraging them to remain disciplined and confident as they begin their final assessments.
In a statement issued by the Constituency Communication Office, the party underscored the constitutional basis for access to education, noting that the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana guarantees to all persons the right to equal educational opportunities and facilities and further provides that basic education should be free and compulsory.
The statement also highlighted the estwhile NPP government efforts to expand access to education, referencing the introduction of the Free Basic Education policy in 2017 under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to the NPP, the policy has significantly improved access to quality education from kindergarten through senior high school.
Touching on he significance of the BECE, the party described it as a key milestone in the academic journey of Ghanaian students. It explained that the examination, which has been in place since 1990, remains the primary requirement for progression into secondary and vocational education.
While commending the candidates for their preparation and commitment, the party called on the current government to uphold key educational policies.
It specifically urged the NDC-led administration to keep to their promise to sustain the free basic education policy, increase access, and improve the performance of students in the BECE.
The statement further advised candidates to strictly observe examination guidelines to avoid sanctions.
“The party urges all candidates to comply with all the rules and regulations guiding the writing of the exams to avoid cancellation of papers and other unforeseen circumstances.” The statement reads.
Encouraging the students, the NPP expressed confidence in their ability to succeed
“We have no doubt that their hard work will be crowned with flying colours given their level of preparation and determination.”
The party also reminded candidates of the importance of the examination, describing it as a foundation for their future aspirations and contributions to national development.
The NPP revealed that more than 600,000 candidates nationwide will sit for this year’s examination from May 4 to May 11, 2026. Out of this number, 1,797 candidates are from the Navrongo Central Constituency, comprising 996 girls and 801 boys.
