Builsa Chief donates food items to Navrongo Central Prison, urges inmates to embrace discipline
Chief Kanfosi Felix Achaab supports Navrongo Central Prison with food and sanitary items, encourages inmates to pursue reform and patience
The Chief of the Builsa community in Navrongo and Chief Executive Officer of Kanchaap Group of Companies, Chief Kanfosi Felix Achaab, has donated assorted food and sanitary items to inmates of the Navrongo Central Prison as part of his annual philanthropic activities.
The donation, which took place on Friday, June 12, included five bags of maize, seventy-two pieces of bathing and washing soap, three gallons of liquid soap, and ten packs of Puma Cola.
Chief Achaab explained that the gesture forms part of a yearly tradition he undertakes every June 12 to support institutions and vulnerable groups in society noting that over the years he has extended support to schools, hospitals and other institutions, and this year he chose the Navrongo Central Prison.
Receiving the items on behalf of the prison, the Upper East Regional Chaplain of the Ghana Prisons Service, DSP Joachim Yenimi Bogre, expressed gratitude to the donor and described the support as timely.
“Your donation came at a time that we needed these food items to supplement what government is giving to our brothers, the inmates. We know that government is doing its best, but government’s best is not enough to actually give our brothers the needed requirement of food that they need,” DSP Bogre said

He assured the donor that the items would be used solely for the benefit of the inmates and prayed for God’s blessings upon him and his family.
Following the presentation, prison officers, inmates and visitors held a worship and praise session to thank God and celebrate the occasion.
Addressing the inmates, Chief Achaab encouraged them not to lose hope despite their circumstances stressing that imprisonment should not be seen as the end of one’s life and urged them to remain disciplined and prayerful.
The philanthropist advised inmates against the pursuit of quick wealth, saying impatience and the desire for material possessions often lead people into trouble.
“You should be content with what you have. You don’t have to be in a hurry in life. If your purchasing power cannot buy certain things, don’t force yourself into getting them through wrong means,” he said.
Chief Achaab acknowledged that while some inmates may have found themselves in prison through circumstances beyond their control, others were there because of mistakes they had made. He urged them to learn from their experiences and avoid returning to criminal activities after serving their sentences.
He further commended inmates who had shown signs of genuine reform and encouraged them to continue on the path of positive change.
On behalf of the inmates, a representative expressed appreciation to Chief Achaab and his delegation for the donation and words of encouragement saying that the inmates had taken valuable lessons from the chief’s message, particularly on discipline, contentment and patience, adding that many of them had learned hard lessons from their experiences and were determined to become better people upon their release.
The representative also thanked prison authorities for facilitating the visit and prayed for God’s blessings upon the donor and his family for remembering the inmates and supporting their welfare.
