Kasena Nankana West DCE assures residents of improved road network as DRIP equipment becomes operational
DCE says repaired DRIP machines are being deployed to rehabilitate key roads in Nakolo, Kuliya and Chania areas to boost connectivity and development.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Kassena-Nankana West District, Stephen Aeke Akurugo, has assured residents that road infrastructure across the district will see significant improvement following the rehabilitation and deployment of equipment acquired under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
Akurugo gave the assurance during a telephone interview on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Wednesday, June 17, in response to concerns raised about the utilization of DRIP equipment in the district.
According to the DCE, the machines were not in a roadworthy condition when the current administration assumed office. However, the assembly took steps to service and repair the equipment, making them fully operational.
“When we assumed office, the DRIP machines were not in a motorable condition. We therefore undertook the necessary servicing and repairs, and all the machines are now fully operational,” he stated.
Akurugo disclosed that with support from the Member of Parliament for the area, the district assembly has already deployed the equipment to rehabilitate several key roads, including routes serving Nakolo, Kuliya and Chania.
He noted that the ongoing road improvement efforts are aimed at enhancing transportation, facilitating economic activities and improving access to social services within the district.
“We have already undertaken rehabilitation works on the Nakolo, Kuliya and Chania road corridors. Going forward, we intend to extend the exercise to selected roads in both the West and East Zones of the district,” he explained.
The DCE further indicated that the assembly remains committed to extending road rehabilitation works to other parts of the district to improve connectivity and support local development.
