Nyoka Mumuni declares intention to contest Navrongo Central NDC chairmanship

Former Constituency Organiser says his chairmanship bid is aimed at promoting unity, strengthening party structures and preparing the NDC for future electoral success.

Former Navrongo Central Constituency Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nyoka Mumuni, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Constituency Chairman when nominations are opened.

In a declaration addressed to party elders, cadres, branch executives and members, Mumuni said his decision was motivated by his commitment to strengthening the party and promoting unity within the constituency.

According to him, his bid is not driven by personal ambition but by a desire to build “a stronger, more united and more vibrant NDC” in the Navrongo Central Constituency.

Mumuni said his years of service within the party have equipped him with the experience needed to lead the constituency. He cited his previous roles as Branch Youth Organizer, Branch Chairman, Constituency Executive Committee Member (Other Eight), Constituency Zongo Caucus Coordinator and Constituency Organizer.

He also highlighted his involvement in the party’s campaign teams during the 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024 general elections, as well as his service on the constituency’s Communication Team and other party structures.

Beyond his party responsibilities, Mumuni noted that he served as Assembly Member for the Balobia Electoral Area for two consecutive terms, during which he chaired the Disability Fund Management Committee and the Social Services Committee, while also serving on the Executive Committee and other committees of the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly.

He said those experiences had strengthened his leadership skills and prepared him to serve the constituency with dedication, humility and purpose.

Reflecting on the 2022 constituency executive elections, Mumuni recalled finishing second in the race for Constituency Chairman but said he accepted the outcome in good faith and continued to work with the party leadership to help secure victory in the 2024 general elections.

“For me, the success of the NDC has always been greater than any personal ambition or individual interest,” he stated.

Mumuni said he was returning to the contest with renewed experience, greater maturity and a stronger commitment to serve, expressing confidence that, with the guidance of God, the time had come for him to lead the constituency.

He pledged to strengthen unity, promote transparency, deepen consultation, empower party branches and ensure that every member feels respected, valued and included if elected.

Mumuni appealed to party members for their prayers, guidance and support, saying he would unveil his vision and strategic agenda for the constituency in the coming days.
