President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Paga Senior High School will become a full boarding school from the 2027/28 academic year.
Speaking on Thursday, August 13, at the campus of Paga Senior High School during his resetting Ghana tour and inspection of development projects in the Upper East Region, President Mahama said government will construct additional infrastructure to support the conversion.
He announced plans for the construction of boys’ and girls’ dormitories and a dining hall, as well as the provision of a new 60-seater bus for the school.
The President said the move is part of efforts to improve access to secondary education and address infrastructure challenges, particularly in rural communities where students travel long distances to attend school.
He also reiterated government’s commitment to ending the double-track system in senior high schools by 2027, saying 30 abandoned E-block projects are being completed under the government’s secondary education infrastructure programme.
President Mahama also assured residents of the Upper East Region of continued investment in roads, including the Navrongo-Chuchuliga-Tumu corridor, which he said is critical to connecting the Upper East and Upper West regions.
He expressed confidence that the ongoing road works would remain on schedule, with the broader objective of improving connectivity between regional capitals.
The President further assured residents of action on concerns including the Navio bridge, water supply and unfinished Agenda 111 hospital projects.
