Kotokoli Zongo, one of the vibrant communities in the Bolgatanga Ramadan Soccer Fiesta, has been crowned champions of this year’s Eid Ul Adha Top Eight Tournament.
The highly competitive final saw Kotokoli Zongo face Bolga Soe, the reigning champions of the Eid Ul Fitr Tournament. After a thrilling 1-1 draw in regulation time, Kotokoli Zongo emerged victorious with a 3-2 win on penalties to lift the coveted trophy.
The Top Eight Tournament featured communities that qualified for the quarter-final stage of the Eid Ul Fitr Tournament. This year’s competition received significant cash and logistics support from the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo.
The sponsorship package included GHS 23,000 in cash, footballs, and sets of jerseys for the semi-finalists.

As champions, Kotokoli Zongo received GHS 3,000, a set of jerseys, and a football. Bolga Soe, the first runners-up, took home GHS 2,000, a set of jerseys, and a football. The third and fourth-placed communities each received a set of jerseys and a football, while the remaining participating communities were presented with footballs and appearance fees.
Additionally, GHS 1,000 was allocated to each participating community as appearance fees, GHS 5,000 was set aside for officiating expenses, and another GHS 5,000 was provided to support the organization of the tournament.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Adongo commended the organizers for successfully hosting the competition. He noted that such sporting activities promote social cohesion, peaceful coexistence, and unity among the youth within the constituency. He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the organizers whenever called upon to do so.
The tournament once again highlighted the important role community sports play in fostering talent development, friendship, and unity among young people in Bolgatanga Central.
