EOCO says lawyer surrendered voluntarily and is cooperating with investigators over alleged financial and related offences

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Senior Partner of Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, has voluntarily surrendered himself to the Office to assist with ongoing investigations.
According to a statement issued by EOCO on Thursday, October 1, Baffour Awuah surrendered at the premises of the Office at about 10:00 a.m.
EOCO said his appearance follows several months of efforts by the Office to secure his attendance before investigators in connection with investigations into allegations involving criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences and other matters.
The Office said it subsequently commenced the applicable investigative and operational procedures after his arrival.
Baffour Awuah was subsequently placed under arrest and is currently cooperating with investigators as the investigative process continues.

EOCO assured the public that its investigations will be conducted professionally and independently, in accordance with due process.
The Office said it would continue to pursue all relevant lines of inquiry, examine available evidence and afford all persons involved their rights under the Constitution and applicable laws.
EOCO also urged the public to allow the investigative and judicial processes to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions regarding the culpability of any individual.
The Office said it would provide further information when appropriate and legally permissible.
