Aduana FC’s Takyi Arhin apologises to André Ayew, people of Paga over ‘goat farming’ remark
Takyi Arhin expresses regret over the controversial remark, apologising to André Ayew and Paga residents after public backlash and demands for a public apology from the Paga Youth Movement.
The General Manager of Aduana FC, Takyi Arhin has has apologised to Ghanaian football star André Ayew and the people of Paga following his remark suggesting that the former Black Stars captain should invest his money in goat farming in the town.
In a statement, Arhin expressed regret over the comment, describing it as an unfortunate moment and acknowledging that he had erred.
“I write to offer my sincere and unconditional apology to André Ayew for the comment. I do not intend to offer any explanation, but I apologise profusely. It was simply an unfortunate moment,” he said.
Arhin also expressed respect for André Ayew and his family, recognising their contribution to Ghana football through their passion, dedication and commitment to the sport.
“I have absolute respect for André and his family for their remarkable passion, dedication and commitment to Ghana football. I erred,” he added.
The Aduana FC General Manager extended the apology to the people of Paga, acknowledging that his remark was offensive, demeaning and unacceptable.
“I also wish to apologise to the good people of Paga for the offensive, demeaning and unacceptable comment, and I hope they find it in their hearts to forgive me,” he stated.
He further clarified that he had no intention of disrespecting Paga, a town in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, which has produced several football talents, including Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pelé.
“I had no intention of disrespecting a beautiful town that has produced top footballers, including the legendary Abedi Pelé,” Arhin said.
The remark sparked public backlash, with the Paga Youth Movement demanding a public apology and the withdrawal of the comment, describing it as derogatory and demeaning to the town and Northern Ghana.
