The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has urged Regentropfen University College to prioritise academic excellence, strengthen research, deepen industry partnerships and promote innovation and practical learning as it enters the next phase of its development.
He made the call when he addressed the university’s 10th anniversary celebration on Saturday October 10, at its campus in Namoo in the Bongo District, on behalf of the Vice President of Ghana, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
Atanga said education should go beyond the acquisition of certificates to provide learners with the knowledge, practical skills and values needed to make meaningful contributions to society.
“Education must go beyond the award of certificates. We must educate the mind, train the hands and shape the character,” he said.
He stressed that the success of an educational institution should not be measured solely by the number of graduates it produces but also by the quality of citizens it develops and their contributions to solving societal problems.
“The true measure of an institution is not merely the number of graduates it produces, but the quality of citizens it develops, the problems they solve and the contributions they make,” he added.
The Regional Minister congratulated the university on the milestones achieved since its establishment and called on stakeholders to support its vision of providing quality education and developing the potential of young people.

He also commended the university’s President, Rev. Fr. Dr. Moses Asaah, for spearheading the establishment of an educational fund to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
As part of his support for the initiative, Atanga announced a donation of GH¢20,000 from the Vice President to the fund and made a personal contribution of GH¢5,000.
He further expressed the commitment of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to supporting the university’s growth, particularly through infrastructure development and other interventions to enhance its operations and academic delivery.
The Member of Parliament for the Bongo Constituency, Charles Bawah Duah, also commended the university’s leadership for investing in the potential of young people and producing graduates who continue to make positive contributions to society.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the institution’s advancement and donated GH¢10,000 to the educational fund to help provide assistance to needy students.
The anniversary celebration was held under the theme, “From Vision to Reality: A Decade of Promoting Talents and Shaping Future Minds.”
