Akaseke Joseph Abaa has officially been confirmed as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo, securing an overwhelming endorsement from assembly members and vowing to deliver open, inclusive, and participatory leadership for the people of the district.
The confirmation ceremony, held at the Bongo District Circuit Court, saw Abaa receiving 52 out of 54 valid votes cast. His confirmation affirms his nomination by President John Dramani Mahama and marks the beginning of what he promises will be a collaborative and citizen-centered administration.
In his address to the assembly members, traditional leaders, stakeholders, and residents, Abaa expressed profound gratitude for the confidence placed in him.
“I was not nominated by President Mahama to rule, but to serve the good people of Bongo,” he stated. “This office is not mine alone; it belongs to all of us.”
He emphasized his commitment to inclusive governance, stating that his leadership will rely on active engagement with all sectors of the district.
“To our revered chiefs and elders, I will seek your counsel regularly. Assembly members, I will work closely with you. To the youth, your energy and creativity will be harnessed. And to the women of Bongo, your voices will be heard and respected,” he said.
Abaa also promised that his doors will remain open to all residents, regardless of political affiliation, background, or social standing. He encouraged citizens to bring forward their concerns and suggestions to help drive development across the district.
Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional Area, Naba Baba Salifu Atamale Alemyaarum, praised the confirmation of the DCE and urged continued unity within the district.
Naba Alemyaarum also called on the people of Bongo to support the campaign for the division of the constituency into two, arguing that it would accelerate development and better representation across all communities in the district.
