Bawku to receive more development projects – Regional Minister
The Regional Minister says ongoing education infrastructure projects in the municipality are part of broader efforts to improve development in Bawku and address challenges such as the double-track system in schools.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, has assured residents of Bawku that more development projects will be rolled out in the municipality, describing ongoing interventions as only the beginning.
Delivering a message on behalf of the President, John Dramani Mahama in Bawku, the Minister assured the people of Kusaug and reaffirmed government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in the area.
He noted that the 13 projects currently underway in the municipality spanning primary, junior high, and senior high school levels demonstrate the President’s dedication to the development of education in the area.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg. More will come.” He assured.
The Regional Minister emphasized that the projects are part of targeted interventions aimed at addressing urgent infrastructure gaps in the education sector, particularly efforts to eliminate the double-track system in schools.
“If we don’t have more infrastructure on campuses, how can we abolish double track? If we don’t have classrooms, how can we address it?” He questioned.
The remarks were made during a courtesy call on the Bawku Naaba, Zug-Raan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, where the Minister briefed the traditional authority on projects being funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund within the traditional area.
