Bolgatanga Midwifery College cuts sod for proposed 3-storey classroom block

The sod was cut during the launch of the college's 75th anniversary and matriculation day celebration.

The Midwifery Training College in Bolgatanga has taken a significant step toward expanding its academic facilities with the official sod-cutting for a proposed three-storey classroom block.

The sod was cut during the launch of the college’s 75th anniversary and matriculation day celebration.

The schools Principal,  Lamisi Buzombil explained that the college currently struggles to accommodate its increasing student population.

“Our journey has not been without its challenges. We continue to grapple with one, infrastructure constraint, particularly in hostels, classrooms, which test our capacity to expand.” She said.

During the ceremony, a fundraising initiative was organised to support the construction of the new block. Attendees contributed by purchasing specially designed clothes, with amounts ranging from 200 Ghana cedis to 3,000 Ghana cedis. The effort received overwhelming support from alumni, nursing associations, and well-wishers, reflecting the community’s commitment to the school’s growth.

College authorities say the new block captured in architectural drawings as the “Proposed 3 Storey Classroom Block” has been a priority project for years due to growing pressure on teaching and learning spaces.
