The District Chief Executive for Builsa South, Anne Musah, has urged candidates preparing for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to take their studies seriously and approach the examinations with confidence, discipline, and integrity.
Addressing the candidates on Monday May 4, Musah stressed that effective preparation extends beyond academic work to include proper organisation.
She advised students to prepare all necessary examination materials in advance, cautioning against last-minute searches for items such as pens, pencils, and erasers on the morning of the exams.
She further encouraged candidates to make good use of the time allocated at the start of each paper by carefully reading instructions and questions.
According to her, beginning with questions they find easier can help build confidence before attempting more challenging ones.
Musah also underscored the importance of time management, urging candidates to monitor their time closely and avoid spending too long on a single question.
On examination conduct, she cautioned against malpractice, warning that copying from others not only leads to errors but also attracts severe sanctions.
She encouraged candidates to rely on their own preparation and remain focused throughout the examination period.

Touching on emotional readiness, the DCE highlighted the importance of staying calm and maintaining faith. She noted that fear and anxiety can negatively affect performance and should be managed.
“Some of you may experience headaches or stomach aches out of fear, but you must not allow that to control you. Trust in your preparation and remain confident,” she advised.
Musah acknowledged that the district’s performance in the previous year was below expectations but expressed optimism that the current batch of candidates would improve upon those results.
A total of 720 candidates are expected to sit for this year’s BECE in the Builsa South District.
