Nayagenia Development Association draws 25-year dev’t plan, renews commitment to improving education

The annual event, which brings together natives of Nayagenia both at home and in the diaspora, featured a series of activities including community health walks, games, and health screening exercises.

The Nayagenia Development Association (popularly known as Nayagenia Jeiro) has climaxed its 2025 activities with a dinner and fundraising event aimed at accelerating development in the Nayagenia community.

The annual event, which brings together natives of Nayagenia both at home and in the diaspora, featured a series of activities including community health walks, games, and health screening exercises.

The celebrations were capped with a colourful dinner night held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the Notre Dame Minor Seminary Hall in Navrongo.

Addressing participants at the dinner, the Chairman of the Nayagenia Development Association Lawrence Luu Anuseh, said the core objective of the Association is to improve the living conditions of community members through collective effort and unity.

“One of our key concerns as an association is how to improve the lives of our people. That is why natives of Nayagenia, those in the diaspora, in Accra, Kumasi, and those at home, have all come together in unity to ensure that we make life better for ourselves,” he stated.

He shed light on some notable achievements chalked up by the Association, including improved access to potable water in several parts of the community, securing sponsorship towards the rehabilitation of schools, and the development of a comprehensive 25-year development plan.

He appealed to stakeholders and partners to support the Association’s development agenda.

Explaining the rationale behind the Association’s focus on education for the year, Camillo Pwamang, a member of the Finance and Sports Committees, noted that the community’s educational standards had declined over the years.

“Over time, we started sliding back academically. We therefore found it necessary to restore Nayagenia’s reputation as a pacesetter in education. As a result, we have taken up a new project to rehabilitate the Junior High School,” he explained.

Pwamang added that, with support from development partners, the Association has already facilitated the construction of a mechanised borehole and is hopeful that classrooms will be refurbished and a computer laboratory established to enhance teaching and learning.

The event attracted several high-profile personalities, including the Navro Pio, Pe Asagpaare Aniakwoa Balinia Adda II and other traditional rulers, the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Chief Executive Faustina Akeyom Abulu, the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central Simon Akibenge Aworigo, and Prof. David Miller, who chaired the occasion.

Also present were the Deputy Chief Executive of the Environmental Protection Agency Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware, members of the Association, and other well-wishers.

Participants were treated to a variety of meals and drinks as they socialised and networked, while the Next Generation Band and invited artistes provided lively musical entertainment to crown the evening.
