Lack of budgeting fuels financial struggles – Jacob Komayire
Financial expert warns that poor budgeting, not low income, is the main cause of money struggles, urging individuals to plan, track spending, and invest wisely.

Jacob Komayire, Manager of Bencyn Susu has warned that failing to budget effectively is a major cause of persistent financial difficulties, stressing that without a plan, money is easily mismanaged and quickly exhausted.
Speaking on Voice of Change on Saturday, April 25, Komayire underscored the importance of intentional financial planning, noting that budgeting gives individuals control over their money.
“A budget is you telling your money where to go. Without one, your money will tell you where it went, usually on things you cannot even remember buying. That is when the complaints begin.” He said.
He cautioned that income level is often not the core issue, but rather the absence of financial discipline.
“It is not that your income is too small, but if you do not budget, you will always spend what is meant for tomorrow, and that is where the complaints come from. If you do not budget your money, your problems will budget it for you.
Komayire highlighted the importance of financial literacy, describing it as the understanding of how money works and how to make it work effectively.
“Financial literacy is about knowing how money works and how an individual can make that money work for them. Without that knowledge, you may earn money but still struggle financially because its purpose is not fulfilled.” He said.
He emphasized that earning alone does not guarantee financial stability, urging individuals to track their savings, spending, and investments.
“Earning alone is not the problem. When you earn, you must learn to track your savings, spending, and investments.” He added.
According to Komayire, a key difference between the wealthy and the poor lies in how they allocate resources. He noted that the wealthy tend to invest in assets that generate returns, while the poor often spend on liabilities that do not.
