Isaac Adongo mocked Akufo Addo for commissioning traffic lights, yet his govt can’t repair them – Ayine
Ayine's comments follow the continued malfunctioning of traffic lights in Bolgatanga town, a situation he says endangers lives and undermines the gains made in road safety under the previous NPP administration.
Johnson Ayine, a regional communicator for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken a swipe at Bolgatanga Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo, over what he describes as the MP’s hypocrisy and failure to maintain essential infrastructure in the municipality.
Ayine’s comments follow the continued malfunctioning of traffic lights in Bolgatanga town, a situation he says endangers lives and undermines the gains made in road safety under the previous NPP administration.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show, Ayine expressed his disappointment, recalling how Isaac Adongo previously ridiculed former President Nana Akufo-Addo for commissioning the same traffic lights during a working visit to the Upper East Region.
“When former President Akufo-Addo came to commission the traffic lights, Isaac Adongo teased him and even took the issue to Parliament.”
“Now those same lights are not functioning. Only one is working, and yet nothing has been done about them.” Ayine said.
Ayine intimated that the traffic lights, which were installed under the erstwhile NPP government, significantly contributed to reducing road accidents in the municipality. He challenged Adongo and the current government to take responsibility and ensure that the infrastructure is repaired.
According to Ayine, the failure to maintain these basic amenities reflects a broader issue of partisan politics hampering development, especially in northern Ghana.
Malfunctioning traffic lights in Navrongo and Navrongo have been a growing concern for residents and motorists, with many appealing to authorities to swiftly repair them.
