The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly, Faustina Akeyom Abulu, has officially handed over a newly completed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Pindaa and a six-unit classroom block at Nawognia to the Municipal Health Directorate and Municipal Education Directorate, respectively.

The handover ceremonies, held on Tuesday, July 7, mark the completion of two key infrastructure projects funded from the 2025 District Assemblies Common Fund, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare and education in the municipality.

Speaking during the handover of the CHPS compound at Pindaa, Abulu said the facility underscores the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery by investing in modern infrastructure that brings essential health services closer to residents.

The newly completed CHPS compound comprises an Out-Patient Department (OPD), consulting rooms, a dispensary, staff accommodation, and a mechanised borehole.

Abulu described the project as a significant milestone in improving access to primary healthcare services across the municipality.

She appealed to the Ghana Health Service, traditional authorities, community leaders, and residents to ensure the facility is properly maintained and protected to serve its intended purpose.

In a related development, the MCE also handed over a newly constructed six-unit classroom block at Nawognia to the Municipal Education Directorate.

The education facility includes auxiliary amenities such as a changing room, toilet and urinal facilities, as well as a borehole to enhance teaching and learning in the community.

Abulu urged parents and community members to prioritise the education of their children by enrolling them in school while taking collective responsibility for maintaining the new infrastructure.

The handover ceremonies were attended by traditional authorities, assembly members, officials of the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly, representatives of the Municipal Health and Education Directorates, opinion leaders, and residents of the beneficiary communities.

Chiefs and community members expressed appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive and the Assembly for responding to their developmental needs, describing the projects as timely interventions that will significantly improve healthcare delivery and educational outcomes in the area.
