The Chatio Foundation has donated learning materials to support needy pupils in the Kasena Nankana Municipality as part of efforts to improve access to education in underserved communities.
The donation was made to the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Education Directorate for onward distribution to 350 needy students selected from 14 circuits across the municipality.
The donation comprised a total of 1,400 exercise books, 440 notebooks, and 1,200 pens.

Speaking at the event, a representative of the foundation, Dr Denis Chirawura, underscored the need to identify and support children who are unable to fully benefit from education due to socio-economic challenges.
“It is now time for us to begin to identify those who are still falling through the cracks because of their socio-economic circumstances and are not able to take maximum advantage of the educational opportunities in our district.”
He added that the donation marks the beginning of the foundation’s broader support initiatives.
“The first activity of the foundation is not just presenting this material,” he noted.”
The Municipal Director of Education, Thomas Kanlisi, expressed gratitude to the foundation, and bemoaned the difficulties many learners face due to poverty.
“I’m very happy and grateful for the donation. The reason is that most of our learners, their family backgrounds are not good. They come from very poor families.” he said.

Ausbert Parese, a headteacher of one of the beneficiary schools, assured the foundation that the items would be put to good use.
“We are praying that the things they are handing over into our hands, we will make good use of them. We will give them to those that are really in need of the books and the pens,” she said.
The foundation, established by Humphrey Chatio Ajongba, focuses on supporting underprivileged communities through interventions in education, health, environmental protection, human rights, and rural development.
