
Government has disbursed a total of GHS462 million in allowances to over 120,000 nursing trainees nationwide, fulfilling a major campaign pledge made by President John Dramani Mahama.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, the payment, which represents six months of accumulated allowances, commenced on Wednesday, July 16, and will continue until next Friday.
This intervention forms part of the government’s broader agenda to bolster the healthcare sector by investing in human resource development.
The Ministry explained that this initiative is also in line with ongoing reforms designed to enhance access to quality training for health professionals and to boost the morale of nursing trainees.
It also expressed gratitude to President Mahama for honouring his promise and acknowledged all stakeholders who played a role in ensuring the swift release and distribution of the funds.
The ministry further assured the public of its continued commitment to collaborate with training institutions to maintain high standards in health education and to contribute to a robust and people centered healthcare system.
