I expect Alamzy to get a ministerial appointment – Hilary Aniakwo

Hilary Aniakwo, a communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the chiana-paga constituency, has expressed optimism in seeing Nikyema Billa Alamzy, the Member of Parliament for the area, land a ministerial position.

Aniakwo believes such an appointment would enable Alamzy to bring the much-need development to the constituency.

The comments by Aniakwo, a fierce critic of Alamzy, follows calls by residents to President Mahama to make more appointments from the Upper East Region into his government, after enjoying overwhelming support in the 2024 general election.

“For us in Chiana-Paga constituency, my MP was praying and wishing that he would be given the opportunity to serve as minister. So, I would be happy if he is made a minister”

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Friday February 7, 2025, Aniakwo lashed the National Democratic Congress for failing to give Alamzy a ministerial appointment despite his enormous influence in the party’s victory in the 2024 elections.

He further criticised the party for not considering Isaac Adongo for a ministerial appointment, adding that Adongo was consistently vocal on issues when the party was in opposition.

“Look at honourable Adongo, he criticised the NPP government when the NDC party was in opposition. He talked about a lot of things, we were expecting they would give him a ministerial appointment so that we can see what he can do. Because it is not all about talking but actions” he teased.

For Aniakwo, the exclusion of Nikyema Billa Alamzy and Isaac Adongo from President Mahama’s government shows they are not the best as they try to make people believe.

“If you are forming a team or going for a match, you look for the best eleven so that they will start the match. So clearly it means that they were not the best eleven, that is why they are not given the opportunity to be part of list of nominees.” He teased.
