The Commission warned that the amnesty window will close definitively at the end of January, after which security agencies will step up enforcement operations nationwide. Any individual found in possession of an unregistered or illicit firearm after the deadline will face arrest and prosecution in line with existing laws.

NACSA also called on chiefs, traditional rulers, religious leaders, opinion leaders, community groups, and the media to intensify public education and mobilise communities to fully participate in the programme.
