It is unfair for Prof. Frimpong-Boateng to publicly air NPP’s internal challenges – Jacob Asomadawine
Professor Frimpong-Boateng, in a recent media interview, described the current NPP as “fake,” arguing that the party has deviated from its original values.
A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team for the Navrongo Central Constituency, Jacob Asomadawine, has expressed concern over recent comments by former Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, describing them as damaging to the image of the party.
Professor Frimpong-Boateng, in a recent media interview, described the current NPP as “fake,” arguing that the party has deviated from its original values.
Reacting to the remarks on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Wednesday, January 14, Asomadawine acknowledged that the party may be facing internal challenges but insisted it was inappropriate for such matters to be aired publicly.
“I don’t think it is fair for him to go to the rooftop and shout the problems of the party. These are the very issues the opposition will use against us,” he said. “If there are concerns, he can formally write to the party. He has not indicated that he did so and was ignored.”
Asomadawine noted that Professor Frimpong-Boateng is an esteemed member of the NPP who has benefitted from the party’s collective efforts and should therefore exercise caution in how he addresses internal issues.
Commenting on the party’s decision to initiate processes to expel the former minister, Asomadawine said the move was in line with efforts to uphold discipline and maintain order within the party.
“He has gone contrary to the constitution of our party, and that amounts to anti-party behaviour,” he stated. “Personally, I do not think he should be sacked. He erred, and I believe he should avail himself to the party, apologise, and then we move forward.”
The controversy continues to stir debate within the NPP as party leaders weigh the balance between internal discipline and unity ahead of future political engagements.
