Kasena Nankana Fire Commander appeals for support to improve water supply for firefighting operations

The Kasena Nankana Municipal Fire Commander, DOII Maxwell Atanga, has appealed to stakeholders and well-meaning individuals to support the construction of mechanised boreholes to serve as active water hydrants to enhance firefighting operations in the municipality.
According to the Divisional Officer Grade II (DOII), the availability of reliable water sources would enable personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service to refill fire tenders quickly and respond effectively to fire emergencies.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Thursday, May 7, DOII Atanga noted that inadequate water supply and low pressure in existing hydrants continue to hinder firefighting efforts within the municipality.
“We are still appealing to stakeholders and well-meaning citizens to come to our aid by helping us secure a mechanised borehole with an overhead tank. This will help solve the issue of low pressure in our hydrants and address other operational challenges,” he stated.
He explained that the persistent low pressure and, in some cases, the complete absence of water flow in hydrants pose serious challenges to firefighting activities.
DOII Atanga also expressed gratitude to the Kasena Nankana Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Faustina Abulu, for supporting the servicing of the municipality’s 15-year-old fire tender, which he said had gone several years without maintenance.
He further urged members of the public to cooperate with firefighters whenever they respond to fire scenes and to avoid negative perceptions about the service.
The Municipal Fire Commander reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana National Fire Service to protecting lives and property through effective firefighting and public safety education.
