Dr Kenneth Elvis Anewenah Foundation marks his birthday with charity in Bolga and Navrongo

The Dr Kenneth Elvis Anewenah Foundation, established in memory of the late philanthropist and entrepreneur Dr Kenneth Elvis Anewenah, affectionately known as Lesken, has marked what would have been his 53rd birthday with a major charitable outreach across Bolgatanga and Navrongo.

In the second edition of its flagship initiative, “Meals on Wheels,” the Foundation reached out to over 1,500 vulnerable individuals on Thursday, August 20, 2025.

Beneficiaries included children in four orphanages, patients at the Upper East Regional Hospital and the War Memorial Hospital, as well as inmates of the Navrongo Central Prisons. Each recipient received a freshly prepared takeaway meal pack and drinks.

The outreach was fully funded by Lesken Limited, with additional support from MyTurn Construction Company, both companies founded by the late Dr Anewenah.

Speaking to the media, Bamidele Amao Moses , the Board Secretary of the Foundation, said the initiative is a continuation of Dr. Anewenah’s lifelong commitment to social welfare and inclusivity.

“Just in line with his philanthropic activities, every year when he was alive on his birthday, he spent time with the needy, he spent time with the unfortunate in our society, and shared some goodies with them. In that same spirit, we continue this today.”

Beyond the birthday outreach, the Foundation has announced plans to roll out long-term initiatives, including supporting health facilities such as the War Memorial Hospital, adopting girls’ schools and orphanages in the Upper East Region, and addressing water access challenges in underserved communities.

“We have plans to support the War Memorial Hospital, we also have plans to adopt at least girls’ schools in the Upper East Region and orphanages as well, and to solve water challenges in some communities.”  Bamidele added.

A protégé of the late Dr Anewenah, Danka John Paul, also addressed the press, describing the late Lesken as a humanitarian whose influence spanned multiple sectors of society.

“Today would have been his 53rd birthday. Dr. Ken was more than a business mogul, he was a champion of the underprivileged. His generosity and commitment to social equality left a lasting impact.” Danka said.

The Foundation’s inaugural Meals on Wheels initiative in 2024 saw similar outreach efforts in Accra, covering communities like Nima, Kawukudi, Shiashie, and East Legon.

The Foundation plans to launch need-based tuition grants for underprivileged yet talented students, with an emphasis on empowering girls. It also aims to establish academic scholarships in select schools to promote excellence and nurture leadership potential, continuing Ken’s commitment to sustainable growth and empowerment.
