NPP in its current form cannot match NDC in elections – Janet Ayiture

Chiana-Paga NDC communicator says internal challenges within the NPP make it incapable of matching the NDC’s performance in future elections.

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Janet Ayiture, has expressed confidence in her party’s ability to defeat the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in future elections.

According to her, the current state of the NPP does not reflect a political party capable of outperforming the governing NDC or reversing its electoral fortunes in the near future.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Wednesday, May 27, Ayiture questioned the strength and direction of the NPP, arguing that the party appears to be struggling with leadership and internal cohesion.

“The NPP currently looks like a party without clear leadership, and I do not believe it can outperform the achievements of President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government in any future election. We are confident of defeating them convincingly whenever Ghanaians are called to the polls,” she stated.

Reacting to comments by NPP National Chairman hopeful Paul Afoko, who has advocated a data-driven approach to rebuilding the party and positioning it for electoral success, Ayiture acknowledged that the proposal was a step in the right direction.

She, however, questioned the party’s commitment to evidence-based decision-making, citing what she described as the NPP’s past skepticism toward scientific polls and research findings.

“Data is important and can help shape effective political strategies. However, one has to ask when the party began to appreciate the value of data, considering how some of its members previously dismissed scientific polls and research findings,” she remarked.

Ayiture maintained that political parties must remain responsive to the needs of the electorate and rely on credible data and public feedback to formulate policies and strategies that resonate with voters.
