Police Commander sounds alarm on rising motorbike indiscipline in the Kassena Nankana Municipality
DSP Adombire noted that reckless motorbike riding, especially among the youth, has become widespread due to the easy access to motorbikes and the lack of proper knowledge of road regulations.
The Kassena Nankana Municipal Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Lawrence Adombire, has raised alarm over the increasing menace of unguided motorbike riding in the municipality, describing it as a major threat to lives.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Tuesday September 2, DSP Adombire noted that reckless motorbike riding, especially among the youth, has become widespread due to the easy access to motorbikes and the lack of proper knowledge of road regulations.
“I want to use this medium to appeal to the youth to take care when they are on the road. They should not always think that they are the only people using the road when they step on it. The road is for multiple users.” He cautioned.
The Police Commander further explained that the police service is committed to protecting lives and property and urged the public to collaborate with law enforcement officers.
“The police had this reputation from the colonial setup, where citizens saw us as a brute force. But now, we are the police service, not a force. We are there to serve, protect lives and property, and so everyone is welcome.” DSP Adombire emphasised.
He assured residents that the police remain dedicated to ensuring safety and called on all road users to comply with traffic regulations to prevent accidents and safeguard lives.
