Prioritise completing the Navrongo Youth Resource Center – Moses Amoah urges gov’t
The project, which began under a previous administration and had its sod-cutting ceremony in May 2018, has stalled for years and is deteriorating.
Moses Amoah, the Navrongo Central Constituency Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to prioritize the completion of the Navrongo Youth Resource Center.
The project, which began under a previous administration and had its sod-cutting ceremony in May 2018, has stalled for years and is deteriorating.
Reacting to the 2026 budget presented by the Minister for Finance, Amoah questioned why no funds were allocated for the completion of the Youth Resource Center. He made the remarks on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday November 17.
“I was thinking that the government, probably our MP, and the whole government machinery would have made provisions to complete that Youth Resource Centre because that is an avenue that can improve the lives of our young people. I’m not happy that the youth resource centre hasn’t had provisions made for it to be completed.”
Amoah further argued that the NDC government should focus on completing the existing project rather than making plans for new stadiums.
“They should have focused on the Navrongo Youth Resource Centre. Governance is a continuous program. NPP started a brilliant idea of setting up a youth resource centre in Navrongo. Phase one of the project had been completed or was almost completed. Unfortunately, we were booted out of power.”
“The NDC has come and is not thinking of completing that one, but rather thinking of probably coming to build a new stadium elsewhere.” He added.
He also raised concerns about other abandoned projects, including the Naaga–Kologo roads, the Navrongo Inner City roads, and the upgrading of the War Memorial Hospital to a teaching hospital.
