Twyford International Ghana has announced plans to recruit about 4,500 young Ghanaians as part of a major expansion into glass manufacturing, in a move aimed at boosting employment and strengthening local industry.
The Takoradi-based manufacturing firm says the recruitment drive will provide the human capital required for its new glass production facility while contributing to efforts to reduce youth unemployment in the country.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Thursday, April 16, the company’s Human Resource Manager, Philip Koku Nunyuie, described the initiative as a significant milestone for Ghana’s industrial sector.
“The only glass factory we had dates back to the era of Kwame Nkrumah, and since then, the country has not had one. We are proud to be the first company in recent times to establish a glass manufacturing plant.” He said.
He disclosed that the company is targeting the recruitment of 4,500 workers across various categories, particularly skilled and semi-skilled labour.
“We are looking at employing about 4,500 workers for this project, which will create employment opportunities for the youth.” He added.
The recruitment will focus on artisans and technical workers, including welders, masons, carpenters, steel benders, truck drivers, excavator operators, and factory hands.
Prospective recruits aged between 18 and 40 will be considered, with the company offering remuneration, transportation, and accommodation packages.
Nunyuie further encouraged young people, especially in the Upper East Region, including Navrongo, to take advantage of the opportunity to secure stable employment and improve their livelihoods.
Twyford International Ghana, one of the largest manufacturing firms in West Africa, specialises in the production of tiles, ceramic products, water closets, sinks, and bathtubs. The company currently employs over 6,000 workers to meet growing market demand.
