Success should not be defined by wealth alone – Businessman
Businessman Prince Saani Amandi has urged young people to view success beyond wealth, highlighting happiness, good health, fulfilment and positive impact.
Businessman Prince Saani Amandi has urged young people to broaden their understanding of success, stressing that it goes beyond the accumulation of money and material possessions.
According to him, society has largely reduced success to financial wealth and material possessions, a perception he described as unfortunate and misleading, particularly for the youth.
Speaking on the Voices of Change on Saturday, September 12, Amandi said true success should also be measured by happiness, peace, good health, personal fulfilment and the positive impact one makes on others.
“Society has narrowed success to only money and material things. Success is not only about having money, a big house or material possessions; it also means finding happiness, peace, good health and fulfilment in life.”
He noted that a person’s success could also be measured by the number of lives they positively influence and the inspiration they provide to others.
“True success is measured by the positive impact you make, the people you inspire and how meaningfully you live your life,” he said.
Amandi also clarified the popular expression “fake it until you make it,” explaining that it is intended to encourage confidence and perseverance rather than promote a deceptive lifestyle.
He said the expression should inspire people to carry themselves with confidence, remain positive and give their best even when they may not yet feel fully capable.
“It is not an invitation to fake your identity, pretend to have what you don’t have, or live a life that is not truly yours,” he cautioned.
On the journey to success, Amandi encouraged young people to exercise patience, saying success takes time and that setbacks and delays are often part of the process.
He urged them to continue working hard, learning and making progress, stressing that every small step brings them closer to their goals.
Amandi further called on parents and guardians to avoid putting undue pressure on children by compelling them to pursue career paths that do not align with their interests, abilities and aspirations.
Rather, he encouraged parents to guide and support their children to identify and develop their God-given talents and pursue paths that allow them to fulfil their potential.
