The Upper East Regional Communications Bureau of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the immediate suspension of all communication-related activities across the region in the wake of a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several high-ranking government officials, party executives, and security personnel.
The devastating incident, which occurred earlier this week, has plunged the nation and political fraternity into mourning.
In a statement issued by Benjamin Atuasi on behalf of the Regional Communications Officer, the bureau expressed deep sorrow over the incident and called for a period of reflection and solidarity.
“It is with a heavy heart that we address you in this moment of national and party sorrow,” the statement read.
“The tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of some of our finest patriots… has left us deeply shaken.”
In consultation with party leadership at the regional level, the Bureau has directed that all communications engagements and public activities be put on hold for the remainder of the week. This includes press briefings, media interviews, and all forms of public outreach and mobilization.
The statement further extended prayers and condolences to the bereaved families and acknowledged the tremendous sacrifices made by the deceased in service to the nation and party.
“We humbly pray that the Almighty comforts the bereaved families and grants us all the strength to bear this collective loss,” the Bureau added.
Meanwhile, flags continue to fly at half-mast across key government and party offices in honor of the fallen.
